Do you feel unsettled, worried or stuck? Do you have a sense that you are in a rut, created from doing the same things over and over, and not getting different results? Maybe you feel unsatisfied with your relationships, or that your life lacks meaning? Exploring these dark places alone may feel overwhelming, but healing comes when you connect with someone you trust. Sometimes even small shifts create a ripple through your life changing how you see yourself and how you relate to others. I work collaboratively with my clients to process and establish the goals of their therapeutic work. We explore the areas that need healing to help you feel more resilient and emotionally engaged with others. You will begin to make sense of what doesn't feel right and transform the places that seem stuck. You will take charge of your anxiety, express your emotions, and experience greater self-esteem. When you are not walking the road alone, you feel resourced with a greater capacity for healing and growth.

If you are looking to identify the traps in your thinking that keep you deflated, I will work with you to help you reach your goals and undo the feeling of being alone. I work with this approach using emotion-focused, experiential and attachment based therapies. AEDP is an experiential approach where we privilege the positive and help you live more fully and freely. I have Level 2 training in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, (AEDP). Individual counselling focuses on the following areas:

  • life transitions (divorce, marriage, parenting, school)
  • self-esteem and assertiveness
  • relationships and healthy attachment
  • trauma
  • anxiety and stress
  • emotional regulation
  • depression
  • personal and spiritual growth

How are you feeling? If I asked you to check in with yourself - really and honestly check in – what would you find? Sometimes in life, things are not going that well. However, we are busy people, and so often push the feelings away with the distractions of life, or even push them deep inside of ourselves, hoping that we can just ignore them and carry on. Although that can work for a while, or even many years, perhaps now you are starting to feel a few chinks in your armour, a little paint peeling on the façade, and a shifting inside of yourself.

If you are feeling that it is time to make some changes in your life, or just want to explore some possibilities, I would be honoured to walk alongside you in your journey. Using a client-centered, strengths-based approach, I will also draw on my experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, trauma therapy and self-compassion practices to support you in your explorations.

Current areas of practice include:

  • Transitions to adulthood (entering workforce/post-secondary education, establishing autonomy)
  • Anxiety and stress management
  • Depression
  • Building communication skills (e.g. assertiveness)
  • Life transitions (parenting, career changes, retirement, caring for aging parents)
  • Grief and loss
  • Anger management
  • Survivors of abuse/trauma

Sometimes our thoughts and feelings become unmanageable. Anxiety, stress and depression are just some of the ways our mind tells us that something isn't right, or that our methods of coping are not working in ways that serve us well. You don't have to go through it alone. Change can be unsettling and distressing, but it can also be healing, fulfilling and hopeful. I understand that not everything goes as planned or expected in life and we all need support from time to time to help navigate through the rough patches. My treatment entails the exploration of problems, thoughts, beliefs, feelings, and behaviours using empirical-based modalities, such as Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness and EMDR. I would like to support you through the challenge you are currently experiencing. I can offer you a comfortable, confidential space to help you find your balance again. I will let you set the pace offering you compassion and acceptance throughout the counselling process.  I will use a therapeutic approach tailored for you. Areas of practice:

  • Life transitions (mid-life, divorce, empty nesting)
  • Fertility issues (fertility/adoption)
  • Sexual issues (Erectile dysfunction, loss of sex drive)

Do you feel a sense of hopelessness? Are you so exhausted that you feel like giving up? We can often find ourselves trapped in negative situations and thinking patterns, which lead to exhaustion, burnout, depression, and even suicidal ideation. I offer approaches such as CBT, ACT, Bowen Family Systems, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, SFBT, Gestalt Therapy, Client Centered, and Mindfulness based therapies. Sometimes in life, imagining and creating new possibilities becomes a challenge, however, reflecting on your experiences, working through and with present situations, and imagining positive change can lead to positive and fulfilling life. Finding meaning and purpose in life, and developing strong sense of identity is important for everyone. Exploring the question “Who am I?” is valuable in addressing any challenge or concern that brings you to seek counselling. This question is asked by every child and an adult, regardless of gender, ethnicity, and spiritual or religious belief, level of education, economic position or a family situation. In addition to talk and narrative therapy, I use expressive methods, such as art and play therapy, storytelling, and existential Gestalt approaches. I offer individual (child & adult) and family counselling in the following areas:

  • Anxiety and stress
  • Life transitions (change of country, change in relationships, parenting, school, work-to-school, career change, etc.)
  • Relationship issues
  • Mother-daughter relationships
  • Parenting
  • Child and pre-teen counselling
  • Attachment related challenges
